Styles

Privacy (Cedar / Board-on-Board)

Full backyard privacy with a clean, solid look. We build standard solid board fences and board-on-board (overlapping pickets, no gaps). Add-ons include top cap & trim, metal posts, and kickboards to protect the bottom. We handle new installs and full privacy fence replacement for storm damage or aging fences.

Semi-Privacy

Semi-Privacy styles include spaced horizontal and shadowbox, which allow for more light and airflow while still maintaining a good amount of privacy.

Lattice Top

Lattice top is an addition to your fence that adds decorative style. It can be added to most styles of wood fence and is available in a variety of patterns.

Picket

Classic front-yard look with good visibility. Can be cut dog-ear, gothic top, or other profiles to match your home or HOA.

Ranch Rail

Ranch rail fencing uses horizontal rails (2-rail, 3-rail, 4-rail) to define property lines, guide livestock, and keep a clear view. Split rail gives a rustic, open country look.

Post-and-Rail

A more rugged look, post-and-rail styles are common in large stretches of land along the countryside.

Species

Western Red Cedar

Western Red Cedar is the gold standard for residential privacy fencing: stable, beautiful grain, naturally resistant to rot and insects, and it takes stain beautifully. Best for long-term curb appeal.

Cedar

Cedar alternatives (Japanese Cedar, Northern White Cedar, Incense Cedar) are also naturally insect-resistant and are a great balance of look, durability, and value. Excellent for full privacy builds.

Spruce & Fir

Spruce and fir (including Rightwood, Rightwood Plus, Altamit, and premium treated pickets) are cost-effective, easy to install, and ideal for rental properties, large perimeters, or when budget matters most.

Pine & More

Southern Yellow Pine and Red Pine can be pressure-treated for strength. Great for posts and structural members that contact the ground.

Specialty / Split Rail / Ranch Rail Woods

Certain species are better for split rail, post-and-rail, and ranch rail. We’ll recommend the best option for acreage and pasture fencing in West Texas and outer Dallas–Fort Worth.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best wood for a fence in Dallas-Fort Worth?

Cedar is one of the most popular choices because it naturally resists insects, decay, and warping while providing a beautiful appearance that works well with staining and sealing. Learn more on our Wood styles and species page.

How long does a wood fence last?

A professionally installed and maintained wood fence can last 15–25 years or more depending on the wood species, weather exposure, and maintenance schedule.

What is the difference between a privacy fence and a board-on-board fence?

A standard privacy fence uses side-by-side pickets, while a board-on-board fence overlaps the pickets to eliminate gaps and provide greater privacy from every angle.

Can wood fences be stained or painted?

Yes. We offer professional fence staining services and can recommend stain colors that enhance appearance while helping protect your fence from the North Texas climate. Learn more on our DFW Wood Staining page.

Are wood fences good for privacy?

Absolutely. Cedar privacy fences remain one of the most popular fencing options for homeowners because they provide security, noise reduction, and backyard privacy.

Do you install metal fence posts with wood fencing?

Yes. Many homeowners choose metal posts because they provide additional strength, reduce the risk of leaning, and help extend the life of the fence. Learn more on our DFW Metal Fence page.

Can you build custom gates to match my wood fence?

Yes. We build custom walk gates, double-drive gates, and decorative entrance gates designed to match your fence style and property layout.
